Master the Spring - Skiing and riding during the unpredictable spring season means you need to be prepared for anything. A few of our Epic Experts – Daniel, Anna, and Paul – weighed in on their favorite gear to make the most of the variable conditions that Mother Nature may throw your way this spring.
Oakley Flight Deck
The Flight Deck has been described as the ‘Ace of snow goggles’ and it’s true—they’re awesome! They have a clean style and a rimless design that is compatible with a wide range of helmets. The interchangeable lens system helps you conquer any spring condition.
Giro Nine MIPS
MIPS is the way to go now for safety and confidence on the mountain, especially when everyone is out and about for spring break. The look has a low profile and streamlined silhouette, but it also has cool technical features like the In Form Fit System and Thermostat Control venting.
Spyder Chambers Men’s Jacket
The Spyder Chambers Jacket is great for spring riding since it is made from GORE-TEX® fabric, which means it’s completely waterproof. The 3M Thinsulate™ to keep you warm on cold days, and an underarm ventilation system helps keep you cool when it starts to warm up.
Burton GoreTex Gloves
Burton GoreTex Gloves are perfect for wetter spring conditions. The DRYRIDE Durashell™ 2L fabric and GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY® GORE-TEX® holds up and keeps you dry in all weather. Plus, they also come with a removable fleece liner that is great for daily use!

Obermeyer Tuscany Women’s Jacket
I love the Obermeyer Tuscany Jacket! Not only is the jacket flattering on many different body types, it has a removable hood and faux fur collar which makes it perfect for a day on the mountain, or a night out on the town. It’s great for spring especially because of the breathability and the HydroBlock® Sport membrane that offers 10,000mm of waterproofing.
Giro Era MIPS
This ladies helmet combines technical features with a stylish look, making it an incredible value. I’ve found the In-Mold Construction, In Form Adjustable Fit System and adjustable venting help keep you comfortable out there.
Smith I/O Mag
This goggle is perfect for spring conditions that change quickly. The magnetic lens is so easy to swap and has two locking mechanisms for security. My favorite feature is the large spherical lens that gives me a maximized field of view.
Smartwool Ski Phd Light Elite Sock
Smartwool socks are my favorite socks for skiing and riding. Not only are they super comfortable with cushioning in both the ball and the heel, they have mesh ventilation that help keep feet comfortable and dry all day long. I definitely wear them on and off the mountain.

Kulkea Boot Trekker
This is my pick for a boot bag because of its huge amount of storage space and the ability to wear it as a backpack. It also carries helmets externally in a retractable sling and its boot pockets are shaped specifically to accommodate ski boots.
Kamik Yukon 6 Men’s Boot
When looking for a snow boot you want something that is waterproof and will keep your feet warm. Kamik’s Yukon 6 Boots are my pick here as they are built with durable, waterproof leather, feature a 3M Thinsulate® for warmth and have a moisture-wicking liner for dry comfort no matter how messy the conditions are.
Sorel Tofino II Women’s Boot
The Sorel Tofino are great for ladies who want something that is both functional and stylish. They are made from a coated waterproof canvas which will keep your feet warm and dry no matter if you are trudging through deep snow or just a muddy parking lot.
Smartwool Men's Merino 250 Base Layer 1/4 Zip
Spring weather changes a lot and having a good base layer is key to staying comfortable on the mountain all day. The Merino 250 is made from 100% Merino Wool which wicks away moisture and helps regulate body temperature making it the perfect base layer for cold mornings, but can also stand alone as a single layer once it warms up later in the day.
